(Online) Particle Tracing in COMSOL Multiphysics® Course (2 Days)

May 21–22, 2024 9:30 a.m. BST

Back to Events Calendar

This is a comprehensive two-day training course aimed at individuals seeking to enhance their skills in using COMSOL’s Particle Tracing Module.

The Particle Tracing Module extends the functionality of the COMSOL Multiphysics® environment for computing the trajectory of particles in a fluid flow or electromagnetic field, including particle-field interactions. Applications include: flow visualization, mixing, spraying, particle separation, mass spectrometry, ion optics, beam physics, ion energy distribution functions, and acoustic streaming.

During the two-day course, you will learn how to build models which include particle tracing. First, the underlying method for the particle tracing is discussed, with general boundary and domain conditions. Applications of particle tracing within fluids, and charged particles in electromagnetic fields will then be considered.

By the end of the training course, participants will be equipped with the necessary skills to effectively leverage the Particle Tracing Module in COMSOL Multiphysics®. They will be able to confidently simulate and analyze the motion of particles within fluid flows and electromagnetic fields while being able to extract key quantities of interest from their simulations.

To teach this course, we use a combination of theoretical and practical lecture, demonstrations and self-guided hands-on training.
