Time-Optimal Control with COMSOL Multiphysics® in 18 Minutes

Developing an optimal product inevitably requires balancing multiple objectives, and often these objectives are closely intertwined: Think time and economics. For example, you may want to minimize the duration of a manufacturing process while also maximizing the duration over which a product degrades.
Regardless of the specific objectives involved in an optimization problem, the amount of design freedom determines the amount of potential improvement. However, extensive design freedom can be impractical with derivative-free optimization; therefore, utilizing gradient-based optimization can be critical for useful results.
In this webinar, we will provide an overview of the gradient-based optimization functionality for time-optimal control available in the Optimization Module, an add-on to the {comsolmph} software. We will demonstrate how to use this functionality to minimize the time to charge a battery and dry a wood pellet.
