vocabulary: "test functions" - "weight functions"

Hi,

when I read some stuff about FEM and the method of weighted residuals (especially the galerkin method), sometimes the term "test funtions", sometimes the term "weight functions" and sometimes both terms are used. Well, I think that these two terms can be used in this context as synonyms. But at lest I'm not sure. Is there any difference? Am I right or totally wrong?

Any bouncing hints? Thx in advance!
