In accordance with our Quality Policy, COMSOL maintains a library of hundreds of documented model examples that are regularly tested against the latest version of the COMSOL Multiphysics® software, including benchmark problems from ASME and NAFEMS, as well as TEAM problems.
Our Verification and Validation (V&V) test suite provides consistently accurate solutions that are compared against analytical results and established benchmark data. The documented models below are part of the COMSOL Multiphysics® software’s built-in Application Libraries. They include reference values and sources for a wide range of benchmarks, as well as step-by-step instructions to reproduce the expected results on your own computer. You can use these models not only to document your software quality assurance (SQA) and numerical code verification (NCV) efforts, but also as part of an in-house training program.
This tutorial example shows how to use the Electric Currents in Shells interface together with Magnetic Field interface to compute the resistance and inductance of a planar PCB coil in the stationary regime. 詳細を見る
In this model, sound created by a vibrating piston radiates through a baffled pipe. The impedance is measured and then used in an impedance boundary condition that replaces the surrounding air domain. This technique can be employed to reduce solution time and memory usage for large ... 詳細を見る
Chemical engineering students can model a nonideal tubular reactor, including radial and axial variations in temperature and composition, and investigate the impact of different operating conditions with this easy-to-use app. The process described by the Tubular Reactor with ... 詳細を見る
Micromirrors are used in certain MEMS devices to control optic elements. This model of a vibrating micromirror surrounded by air uses the Thermoacoustic-Shell Interaction user interface to model the fluid-solid interaction, and it thus includes the correct viscous and thermal damping of ... 詳細を見る
This model couples the Navier Stokes equations and the heat transfer equations to examine density driven flow of free fluids. Here the fluid is in a square cavity with a heated wall. The buoyancy force is a Boussinesq term added to the Navier-Stokes equations. The equation is ... 詳細を見る
This model is a benchmark for three-phase flow commonly used in food processing, pharmaceutical industry, and chemical processing. The results are validated against data reported in the literature. A gas bubble rises through two layers of liquid, a lighter liquid resting on top of a ... 詳細を見る
A classic benchmark problem in computational electromagnetics is to solve for the radar cross section (RCS) of a sphere in free space illuminated by a plane wave. This model solves for the RCS of a metallic sphere that has a very high conductivity, which can be treated as a material with ... 詳細を見る
This model shows how to implement an anisotropic, incompressible, hyperelastic material for modeling soft collagenous tissue in arterial walls. The hyperelastic material model implemented is based on the articles: Holzapfel, G. A., Gasser, T. C., & Ogden, R. W. (2000), A new ... 詳細を見る
Perforates are plates with a distribution of small perforations or holes. They are used in muffler systems, sound absorbing panels, and in many other places as liners, where it is important to control attenuation precisely. As the perforations become smaller and smaller, viscous and ... 詳細を見る
This benchmark models two-phase flow in a porous medium in 1D, where the flow can be analytically described by the Buckley-Leverett equation. 詳細を見る
