White Pupil Échelle Spectrograph

Application ID: 54881

Échelle spectrographs are commonly used in astronomy for high-resolution analyses of stellar atmospheres and for precision Doppler velocimetry. This tutorial simulates a "white pupil" form of this instrument. It makes use of several parts from the COMSOL Part Library and demonstrates the creation of a complex fully parameterized geometry. Two grating components are included, and the use of the Diffraction Order node is demonstrated. The échelle grating is used in high order and a parametric sweep across several orders (with several wavelengths in each order) is made and the resulting ray and échelle diagrams are generated.
