Is COMSOL 5.5 Supported on Cray Clusters?

Problem Description

COMSOL Multiphysics version 5.5 supports distributed memory computing on Cray clusters.

Solution

We have verified that COMSOL Multiphysics version 5.5 runs in distributed mode on the Cray XC40 under CLE 7.0. We have tested that COMSOL works in batch mode using the command comsol batch ... (you may wrap the submission command from the GUI as described on Solution 1001 (Running COMSOL in parallel on clusters)). You need to specify the option -mpifabrics shm:tcp . According to our tests, this option gives the expected interconnect performance.

A sample submission script for COMSOL batch jobs with Slurm is attached.
