In accordance with our Quality Policy, COMSOL maintains a library of hundreds of documented model examples that are regularly tested against the latest version of the COMSOL Multiphysics® software, including benchmark problems from ASME and NAFEMS, as well as TEAM problems.
Our Verification and Validation (V&V) test suite provides consistently accurate solutions that are compared against analytical results and established benchmark data. The documented models below are part of the COMSOL Multiphysics® software’s built-in Application Libraries. They include reference values and sources for a wide range of benchmarks, as well as step-by-step instructions to reproduce the expected results on your own computer. You can use these models not only to document your software quality assurance (SQA) and numerical code verification (NCV) efforts, but also as part of an in-house training program.
This setup demonstrates how the characteristics of turbulent flow in a channel are modified by the presence of an adjacent porous region. Asymmetric velocity profiles, higher turbulence levels, and higher friction coefficients both at the solid wall and the fluid-porous interface are ... 詳細を見る
The fabrication of a cup through powder compaction is simulated in this tutorial model. The powder compaction process is becoming common in the manufacturing industry, due to its potential for producing components of complex shape and high strength. Combining the Fleck–Kuhn–McMeeking ... 詳細を見る
When analyzing rotors, it is common that bearings are modeled through their effective dynamic coefficients about a static equilibrium position. This model illustrates how to compute such coefficients for a cylindrical journal bearing. The bearing length is kept much smaller than its ... 詳細を見る
Capacitively coupled RF discharges can operate in two distinct regimes depending on the discharge power. In the low power regime, known as the alpha regime, the electric field oscillation is responsible to heat and create electrons. In the high power regime, known as gamma regime, the ... 詳細を見る
In this example, wrinkling is studied in a cylindrical membrane of nonuniform thickness under axial and pressure loading. The membrane is modeled as an incompressible Mooney–Rivlin material. During axial stretching, certain portions of the membrane undergo wrinkling; however, the ... 詳細を見る
In this tutorial model, the far-field radiation pattern of a dipole antenna is computed in a 2D axisymmetric model component. Then, in a separate 3D model component, a ray is released using the far-field radiation pattern to initialize the ray's intensity, polarization, and phase. 詳細を見る
Ultrahigh Molecular Weight (UHMW) Polyethylene is a material commonly employed in knee and hip joint replacements. The “small punch test” is designed to assess mechanical properties using very small samples, such that because of their size they can directly be explanted. This example ... 詳細を見る
This model simulates the discharge of a Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery using the Battery with Binary Electrolyte interface. The geometry is in one dimension and the model is isothermal. The model serves as an introduction to NiMH modeling, and can be further extended to include ... 詳細を見る
Biotechnology is a rapidly growing area in the pharmaceutical sciences. One example of a clinical application is gene therapy, where it is possible to produce proteins in vivo, using the body’s own mechanisms for protein production. Major issues in gene delivery involve the transport of ... 詳細を見る
Classical MHD benchmark problem was solved analytically by J. Hartmann. He considered laminar incompressible flow between two planes (in planar duct) in transversal imposed magnetic field under next assumptions: * fully developed flow (far from inlet) * fluid properties are constant * ... 詳細を見る
