Acoustics in Electronics Part 2: MEMS Speakers and Microphones

所要時間: 50:24

MEMS transducers, including microphones and speakers, have played a key role in the development of audio products as technology continually improves. The small size and high-quality audio of MEMS transducers are beneficial for earbuds, headsets, and hearing aids. This video, Part 2 of a series, gives an overview of multiphysics modeling techniques for the design of MEMS transducers in the COMSOL Multiphysics® software.

Learn how COMSOL Multiphysics® offers functionality through built-in features that capture thermoviscous losses, which can be incorporated into vibroacoustic settings or transducer models, and enable the coupling of electromechanical forces. The software also features port conditions to excite waveguides, nonlinear effects to model distortion, and a specialized Slip Wall formulation.

We also discuss several examples of modeling and simulation in MEMS speakers and microphones, including:

  • Microspeakers
  • Piezoelectric MEMS speakers
  • Condenser microphones
  • MEMS microphones with slip wall
  • Nonlinear thermoviscous thin-film damping in microphone applications
