Boundary condition question of a MEMS thermal problem

I would like to investigate the temperature distribution generated by many many (>1000) interdigitated micro beams as shown in FIGURE1. The red beam has high temperature while the blue one has low temperature. The unit cell I choose is shown in FIGURE2. The boundary condition of the beam is Dirichlet B.C. (i.e. constant temperature).

My question is what is the boundary condition of the dashed lines outside the beam. I think they have symmetry B.C. (i.e Neumann B.C.). However, what confused me in COMSOL is it has "Periodic B.C." as well. I don't know when to use "Periodic B.C."

Anyone can advise me on this issue? Thanks.
