corona discharge

Hello everybody,

I am new in comsol and I try to create a numerical model in comsol to simulate the corona discharge between a very thin tungsten wire (20 micrometer diameter) and a grounded aluminium plate. The two elements were placed in air. Which model should I use ? (PDE, EMES, Electrostatics generalized.....?)

Thank you!

Marius,

I presume the plasma module should fit best. However, I don't have it so I cannot give practical advice.

Cheers

Hi,
If been trying to model corona discharges with comsol too. My advice is that you should start with the tutorial models on the DC plasma to get to know how it works.
To solve a corona discharge the module to be used is the plasma. However, you will face several problems if you have planned to solve an atmospheric pressure discharge.

Good luck!
