Minimum Qualifications
• A master’s degree in engineering or physics with one year or more experience in modeling structural mechanics applications based on numerical methods.
• Demonstrated experience or academic project work involving nonlinear material models such as:
Plasticity, viscoelasticity, viscoplasticity, creep, or rate-dependent material behavior
Hyperelastic and shape memory alloys
Damage and fracture modeling
Parameter estimation for matching material parameters with test data
• Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills on the phone, in person, and in writing. Strong organizational and time management skills, possesses a sense of urgency.
Preferred Qualifications
• PhD in engineering or physics with one year or more experience in modeling based on numerical methods, such as FEM, that has been gained as part of project work at a commercial organization, government research facility, or university.
• Strong background in solid mechanics with a deep understanding of nonlinear constitutive modeling and the underlying physics. Experience with numerical methods and structural mechanics modeling in one or more of the following applications: statics, dynamics, nonlinear material modeling, rotordynamics, multibody dynamics, contact mechanics, composites, fatigue among other areas.
• Experience working with COMSOL® software.
Personal growth
Supporting your success in your role as an Applications Engineer will be other simulation engineers and software developers who occupy the top echelons of their areas of expertise.
