Resseting displacments V 4.2

Hi I am using version 4.2 but this is something that has puzzled me since 3.1. I am using the structural mechanics module, which I have not used very much (mainly deal with fluid flow) so I'm not sure how do do this.

I have a model of the ground that has a density and is subject to gravity (applied as a body force) I run a stationary model (in study 1) in order to allow the initial stresses in the model to develop, and obviously this causes some settling of the ground. My model is 16 km deep so this is around 40m.

What I then do (either as stationary or time dependant) is change something (in study 2) and see how the ground responds. This should be my starting point as in reality the ground is already in equilibrium so I am only interested in the displacements caused by this change.

In all other modelling software I have used there are options to reset displacements, or to set up an initial stress state so that there is no gravitational settling. I am at a loss to find any way to reset displacements in COMSOL, does anybody have any suggestions on how to achieve something like this?

Many thanks

Mark Thomas.
