Surface engineering is a key technology used in a wide range of sectors in industry. Among other techniques, it involves adding functionality to a surface. This can be performed by creating a specific topography to a surface using laser texturing. The objective of the work presented in ...
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been proven experimentally to be well suited for field emission applications. An optimized triode configured CNT field emission array is developed using the COMSOL Multiphysics Electrostatics Application to adjust five key physical dimensions to investigate ...
Passive, one-way valves, also known as check valves, while common at the macro scale, are an essential microfluidic feature that facilitate flow rectification. These structures are also commonly used in reciprocating micropump configurations to control flow. Their operation can be ...
Surface Plasmons (SP) or Surface Plasmon Polaritons (SPP) are electromagnetic excitations that propagate at the interface between a dielectric and a conductor, and are evanescently confined in the perpendicular direction to the propagation. They arise via coupling of the electromagnetic ...
The high speed gas turbine is a power plant developed for modern aircrafts. It is widely used and developed because it can meet the high power to weight ratio. The rotor system of modern small gas turbine works above the critical speeds. Hence, there is a stricter requirement for the ...
The use of LEDs package for lighting presents a thermal problem. In fact, 70% of the energy consumption is converted to heat. This affects widely the LEDs performance especially lifetime and luminous efficiency. Thermal management of LED is interested in natural convection cooling. The ...
Electroporation is a biotechnological technique which subjects cells to strong (~kV/cm), short (~ms) electric field pulses that open pores on the cells’ plasma membranes. Under the appropriate conditions, the pores mediate the passage of exogenous material into cells. If the pores ...
Since 2011, LATMOS has been involved in the development of Micro-ARES, an electric field sensor forming part of the DREAMS science payload of the ExoMars 2016 Schiaparelli entry, descent and landing demonstrator module (EDM). Micro-ARES is dedicated to the very first measurement and ...
