Opening Saved Recovery Files in COMSOL Multiphysics®

Duration: 4:54

If the COMSOL Multiphysics® software unexpectedly closes before the simulation finishes, a recovery file is automatically saved. You can easily open these recovery files to finish running your simulation from where it left off, instead of having to run the simulation from the beginning again. Hopefully, you will never need to use this feature, but knowing that it is there can be a real lifesaver if you ever do need it.

This feature is applicable for any parametric simulations, namely:

  • Auxiliary sweeps
  • Time-dependent studies
  • Frequency domain studies
  • Parametric sweeps

Note that the Continue functionality is not available for parametric sweeps, but your solutions will still be stored. As a workaround, you can rerun the parametric sweep starting at the last value of the original. There will be two solution data sets, but all of the values will be available.
