Structural Mechanics News in COMSOL® Version 6.1
The latest release of COMSOL Multiphysics® introduces many updates to the Structural Mechanics Module and the add-on products for structural analysis. In version 6.1 you can now evaluate stresses in welded structures along joint edges using the Shell interface. In addition, you can now use any linear or nonlinear material for modeling thin layers on boundaries, making it easier to model glue layers, gaskets, and claddings.
Included in the new version are the following new formulation and features:
- Nitsche’s method: A fast and robust formulation for mechanical contact
- Full support for self-contacting surfaces for solids and shells
- Two multiphysics interfaces for thin-film flow that can be used for modeling thin-film damping or lubrication in thin fluid layers
- A feature that numerically tests and verifies a material model's behavior or a given set of material properties before being used in a simulation
In this webinar, we will give you an overview of the new capabilities in the Structural Mechanics Module and the add-on products for structural analysis. There will also be demonstrations involving the new example models in the Application Library.
