In accordance with our Quality Policy, COMSOL maintains a library of hundreds of documented model examples that are regularly tested against the latest version of the COMSOL Multiphysics® software, including benchmark problems from ASME and NAFEMS, as well as TEAM problems.
Our Verification and Validation (V&V) test suite provides consistently accurate solutions that are compared against analytical results and established benchmark data. The documented models below are part of the COMSOL Multiphysics® software’s built-in Application Libraries. They include reference values and sources for a wide range of benchmarks, as well as step-by-step instructions to reproduce the expected results on your own computer. You can use these models not only to document your software quality assurance (SQA) and numerical code verification (NCV) efforts, but also as part of an in-house training program.
When electrons are emitted from a heated cathode in a plane parallel vacuum diode, they contribute to the space charge density in the diode, which in turn affects the electric potential distribution. If the potential difference between the cathode and the anode is not sufficiently large, ... 詳細を見る
The double barrier structure is of interest because of its application in semiconductor devices such as resonant-tunneling diodes. This verification example demonstrates the Schrödinger Equation interface to set up a simple 1D GaAs/AlGaAs double barrier structure to analyze the ... 詳細を見る
Magnetotellurics is a method for estimating the resistivity profile of the Earth's subsurface using the natural electromagnetic source provided by the ionosphere. This model was defined by Zhdanov et al. in a study published in 1997. In this article, various scientific groups compared ... 詳細を見る
Mass transport limitations within thin crevices can often result in the local electrochemistry to differ significantly between the crevice opening (mouth) and end (tip), and as a result of the differences in local chemistry, corrosion may occur. This example models crevice corrosion of ... 詳細を見る
This verification model of nonisothermal turbulent flow over a flat plate compares the heat transfer coefficient obtained from simulation with theoretical values based on Nusselt number correlation functions that can be found in the literature. 詳細を見る
This example shows the behavior of the coupled damage-plasticity material model for concrete when subjected to different loading conditions. 詳細を見る
This tutorial model demonstrates how to set up a parameter estimation study for fitting the material parameters of an Ogden hyperelastic model to experimental data. The procedure considers multiple load cases under large deformations, which is often necessary to obtain constitutive ... 詳細を見る
This model simulates the isotropic compression of naturally structured and artificially structured clays using the Modified Structured Cam-Clay (MSCC) material model. The aim of the example is to reproduce the compression behavior given in a benchmark for four structured clays. 詳細を見る
In this example, it is demonstrated how to extend the built-in linear elastic material model to a Cosserat material through the addition of microrotation degrees of freedom. A cylindrical bar under pure torsion is analyzed and the effect of the Cosserat length scale parameter on the ... 詳細を見る
This example applies an Oldroyd-B fluid to model the thinning of a viscoelastic filament under the action of surface tension. For times smaller than the polymer relaxation time, the filament develops a beads-on-string structure. At times much larger than the relaxation time, the solution ... 詳細を見る
