In accordance with our Quality Policy, COMSOL maintains a library of hundreds of documented model examples that are regularly tested against the latest version of the COMSOL Multiphysics® software, including benchmark problems from ASME and NAFEMS, as well as TEAM problems.
Our Verification and Validation (V&V) test suite provides consistently accurate solutions that are compared against analytical results and established benchmark data. The documented models below are part of the COMSOL Multiphysics® software’s built-in Application Libraries. They include reference values and sources for a wide range of benchmarks, as well as step-by-step instructions to reproduce the expected results on your own computer. You can use these models not only to document your software quality assurance (SQA) and numerical code verification (NCV) efforts, but also as part of an in-house training program.
This benchmark model simulates a GaAs nanowire using the self-consistent Schrödinger-Poisson theory to compute the electron density and the confining potential profiles. The predefined Schrödinger-Poisson multiphysics coupling feature is combined with the dedicated Schrödinger-Poisson ... 詳細を見る
As reactant monomer converts into polymer chains, the density of the reacting mixture often changes notably. In this example you will look at how this effect impacts the total production of polymer in a process. The liquid phase polymerization takes place in a semibatch reactor, where ... 詳細を見る
Zone electrophoresis (ZE) is an electrophoretic separation technique typically used for analyzing proteins, nucleic acids, and biopolymers. During the process, different species in a sample are transported in a continuous electrolyte buffer system, subject to a potential gradient. Due to ... 詳細を見る
Experiments on dry and wet soil samples are performed to understand their behavior under different loading conditions. In this example, the Extended Barcelona Basic (BBMx) soil model is used to simulate the wetting and drying paths in partially saturated soil samples under cyclic ... 詳細を見る
This model reproduces the NiCd battery model and the results presented in De Vidts' and White's paper from 1995. Ref: P. De Vidts, R. E. White, “Mathematical Modeling of a Nickel-Cadmium Cell: Proton Diffusion in the Nickel Electrode”, J. Electrochem. Soc, Vol. 142, No. 5, May 1995. 詳細を見る
This setup demonstrates how the characteristics of turbulent flow in a channel are modified by the presence of an adjacent porous region. Asymmetric velocity profiles, higher turbulence levels, and higher friction coefficients both at the solid wall and the fluid-porous interface are ... 詳細を見る
In this example, monotonic and cyclic triaxial tests are simulated using the Hardening Soil Small Strain material model. The model captures the effects of small strain stiffness and hysteresis under cyclic loading. The stress-strain relationship matches the hyperbolic curve reported in ... 詳細を見る
In this model, two flat end mirrors are placed at a distance and a spherical lens is inserted in the middle of the cavity. A ray is released from a point inside the cavity. Then the ray is traced for a predefined time period that is sufficiently long. Ray tracing continues until the ... 詳細を見る
This example illustrates how to set up and solve a tank-in-series model in 0D using the Reaction Engineering interface. The model treats a series of three consecutive tank reactors. A feedback loop continuously adjusts the inlet concentration of the first tank to keep the concentration ... 詳細を見る
This tutorial model demonstrates how to estimate the material parameters of a viscoplastic Bergstrom–Boyce model suitable for nonequilibrium modeling of rubber-like materials. The data used for parameter estimation consists of cyclic uniaxial tension and compression tests at two ... 詳細を見る
