Communication error with remote service when using COMSOL Chatbot with GPT-5

Problem Description

When using the COMSOL Chatbot with the OpenAI or Azure OpenAI providers and a reasoning model such as GPT-5 a “Communication error with remote service” occurs

Solution

This issue can occur when the Chatbot does not begin responding to the prompt immediately. A fix for this issue is planned for COMSOL 6.4 Update 2. If you use OpenAI reasoning models we recommend that you update your installation as soon as the update becomes availalbe. In the meantime, you can work around the issue by using a non-reasoning model such as GPT-4o.
