In accordance with our Quality Policy, COMSOL maintains a library of hundreds of documented model examples that are regularly tested against the latest version of the COMSOL Multiphysics® software, including benchmark problems from ASME and NAFEMS, as well as TEAM problems.
Our Verification and Validation (V&V) test suite provides consistently accurate solutions that are compared against analytical results and established benchmark data. The documented models below are part of the COMSOL Multiphysics® software’s built-in Application Libraries. They include reference values and sources for a wide range of benchmarks, as well as step-by-step instructions to reproduce the expected results on your own computer. You can use these models not only to document your software quality assurance (SQA) and numerical code verification (NCV) efforts, but also as part of an in-house training program.
This example shows the behavior of the coupled damage-plasticity material model for concrete when subjected to different loading conditions. 詳細を見る
This tutorial simulates a standard test and benchmark model for perfectly matched layers (PMLs) as absorbing boundary conditions in the time domain. It involves the propagation of a transient Gaussian pulse with no flow. The Pressure Acoustics, Transient interface is used together with ... 詳細を見る
In this example, monotonic and cyclic triaxial tests are simulated using the Hardening Soil Small Strain material model. The model captures the effects of small strain stiffness and hysteresis under cyclic loading. The stress-strain relationship matches the hyperbolic curve reported in ... 詳細を見る
In this example, a settlement and heave analysis of a shallow foundation resting on an unsaturated soil stratum is conducted with the Modified Cam-Clay and Extended Barcelona Basic soil models. The effect of pore suction due to movements in the phreatic line and the resulting settlement ... 詳細を見る
This benchmark studies the nonlinear deformation of a spherical cap subjected to point load at center using 2D axisymmetric Solid Mechanics and Shell interfaces. The results from the Shell interface are compared with Solid Mechanics interface as well as with analytical results given in ... 詳細を見る
This tutorial model demonstrates how to set up a parameter estimation study for fitting the material parameters of an Ogden hyperelastic model to experimental data. The procedure considers multiple load cases under large deformations, which is often necessary to obtain constitutive ... 詳細を見る
In this example, triaxial and oedometer tests are simulated using the Modified Cam-Clay material model. A nonlinear stress-strain relation is recovered with the constant Poisson's ratio formulation. The hardening and softening behavior is recovered for normally consolidated and highly ... 詳細を見る
Many piezoelectric materials are ferroelectric. Ferroelectric materials exhibit nonlinear polarization behavior, such as hysteresis and saturation at large applied electric fields. In addition, the polarization and mechanical deformations in such materials can be strongly coupled due to ... 詳細を見る
This model example shows how to model nonlinear propagation of a cylindrical wave using the Nonlinear Pressure Acoustics, Time Explicit physics interface available in Acoustics Module of COMSOL Multiphysics. The interface implements the system of nonlinear acoustic equations in the form ... 詳細を見る
A common verification problem for geotechnical problems is a shallow stratum layer of clay. In this example a vertical load is applied on the clay strata and the static response and the collapse load are studied. The clay is modeled as an elastic-perfectly plastic material and the ... 詳細を見る
