In accordance with our Quality Policy, COMSOL maintains a library of hundreds of documented model examples that are regularly tested against the latest version of the COMSOL Multiphysics® software, including benchmark problems from ASME and NAFEMS, as well as TEAM problems.
Our Verification and Validation (V&V) test suite provides consistently accurate solutions that are compared against analytical results and established benchmark data. The documented models below are part of the COMSOL Multiphysics® software’s built-in Application Libraries. They include reference values and sources for a wide range of benchmarks, as well as step-by-step instructions to reproduce the expected results on your own computer. You can use these models not only to document your software quality assurance (SQA) and numerical code verification (NCV) efforts, but also as part of an in-house training program.
When modeling the propagation of charged particle beams at high currents and relativistic speeds, the space charge and beam current create significant electric and magnetic forces that tend to expand and focus the beam, respectively. The Charged Particle Tracing interface uses an ... 詳細を見る
In this example, the homogenized elastic and viscoelastic properties of a particulate composite are computed based on the individual properties of elastic particles embedded in a viscoelastic matrix. Periodic boundary conditions are applied to a unit cell of the particulate composite ... 詳細を見る
This example models an oil reservoir with two horizontal wells. The reservoir contains two phases, water and oil. Oil is recovered by injecting water through the bottom well, so the oil production rate and the water-oil production ratio over time are computed. 詳細を見る
Due to the demand for larger power with a smaller size, dual-shaft systems with intershaft bearings are becoming a standard configuration for gas turbine engines. Such systems consist of two coaxial rotors running at different speeds, interlinked through a multi-spool bearing. In this ... 詳細を見る
Ultrahigh Molecular Weight (UHMW) Polyethylene is a material commonly employed in knee and hip joint replacements. The “small punch test” is designed to assess mechanical properties using very small samples, such that because of their size they can directly be explanted. This example ... 詳細を見る
A square airbag made of a hyperelastic, compressible neo-Hookean material is inflated using pressurized air. Compressive stresses trigger wrinkling in some regions of the thin airbag. In this example, the wrinkling behavior is modeled using tension field theory, which gives a correct ... 詳細を見る
This tutorial is a benchmark model that reproduces the Testing Electromagnetic Analysis Method (TEAM) Problem 32, which evaluates numerical methods for the simulation of anisotropic magnetic hysteresis. A hysteretic three-limbed laminated iron core is subject to a time-varying magnetic ... 詳細を見る
In this benchmark model, solid particles are released in a fully developed turbulent channel flow. The particles are subjected to a drag force that includes contributions from the fluid turbulence, implemented using a Continuous Random Walk (CRW) model. Because the turbulence in the ... 詳細を見る
This model showcases how to solve for the scattered field when knowing the incident field for three different types of scatterer, that is, an infinitely rigid one, a cavity and an elastic inclusion. This formulation can be useful when the scatterer is in the far field of the source, so ... 詳細を見る
