Effect of Bearing Misalignment on Rotor Vibration

Application ID: 68561

In this example, a rotor supported by two hydrodynamic bearings is analyzed. An eccentric disk located between the bearings induces rotor whirl. One of the bearings is misaligned with the rotor axis.

The Beam Rotor interface with Hydrodynamic Bearing interface in the Rotordynamics Module is used to simulate the coupled behavior of the rotor and bearings. The analysis is performed both with and without bearing misalignment, and the results are compared to investigate the effect of misalignment on the rotor's dynamic response.

The results include the orbit of the disk, the frequency spectrum of the rotor response at the disk location, and the pressure distributions in the bearings.
