Wrinkling of Cylindrical Membranes with Varying Thickness

Application ID: 105081

In this example, wrinkling is studied in a cylindrical membrane of nonuniform thickness under axial and pressure loading. The membrane is modeled as an incompressible Mooney–Rivlin material. During axial stretching, certain portions of the membrane undergo wrinkling; however, the wrinkling disappears when the internal pressure is increased.

Two wrinkling models, the modified deformation gradient approach and the relaxed strain energy approach, are used and the results are compared.
