In accordance with our Quality Policy, COMSOL maintains a library of hundreds of documented model examples that are regularly tested against the latest version of the COMSOL Multiphysics® software, including benchmark problems from ASME and NAFEMS, as well as TEAM problems.
Our Verification and Validation (V&V) test suite provides consistently accurate solutions that are compared against analytical results and established benchmark data. The documented models below are part of the COMSOL Multiphysics® software’s built-in Application Libraries. They include reference values and sources for a wide range of benchmarks, as well as step-by-step instructions to reproduce the expected results on your own computer. You can use these models not only to document your software quality assurance (SQA) and numerical code verification (NCV) efforts, but also as part of an in-house training program.
Polymer hydrogels consist of a crosslinked network of long-chained polymers that has imbibed a large number of solvent molecules. Such materials are used in many biomedical applications, such as targeted drug delivery, tissue engineering, and stimuli-sensitive actuators. This benchmark ... 詳細を見る
This model solves the Testing Electromagnetic Analysis Methods (TEAM) problem 7, “Asymmetrical Conductor with a Hole”—a benchmark problem concerning the calculation of eddy currents and magnetic fields produced when an aluminum conductor is placed asymmetrically above a multi-turn coil ... 詳細を見る
Mass transport limitations within thin crevices can often result in the local electrochemistry to differ significantly between the crevice opening (mouth) and end (tip), and as a result of the differences in local chemistry, corrosion may occur. This example models crevice corrosion of ... 詳細を見る
This model is a benchmark for three-phase flow commonly used in food processing, pharmaceutical industry, and chemical processing. The results are validated against data reported in the literature. A gas bubble rises through two layers of liquid, a lighter liquid resting on top of a ... 詳細を見る
This tutorial example shows how to use the Electric Currents in Shells interface together with Magnetic Field interface to compute the resistance and inductance of a planar PCB coil in the stationary regime. 詳細を見る
This example describes how to simulate the self-lubricating phenomenon of a liquid lubricant in a journal bearing. A porous bushing is press-fitted to a bearing and saturated with a lubricant. It acts as a reservoir for the redistribution of the thin film of lubricant between regions of ... 詳細を見る
The incompressible boundary layer on a flat plate in the absence of a pressure gradient is usually referred to as the Blasius boundary layer. The steady, laminar boundary layer developing downstream of the leading edge eventually becomes unstable to Tollmien-Schlichting waves and finally ... 詳細を見る
A square airbag made of a hyperelastic, compressible neo-Hookean material is inflated using pressurized air. Compressive stresses trigger wrinkling in some regions of the thin airbag. In this example, the wrinkling behavior is modeled using tension field theory, which gives a correct ... 詳細を見る
Ultrahigh Molecular Weight (UHMW) Polyethylene is a material commonly employed in knee and hip joint replacements. The “small punch test” is designed to assess mechanical properties using very small samples, such that because of their size they can directly be explanted. This example ... 詳細を見る
This tutorial is a benchmark model that reproduces the Testing Electromagnetic Analysis Method (TEAM) Problem 32, which evaluates numerical methods for the simulation of anisotropic magnetic hysteresis. A hysteretic three-limbed laminated iron core is subject to a time-varying magnetic ... 詳細を見る
