Modeling Vibration and Noise in a Gearbox: Bearing Version

Application ID: 90271

This example extends a model of vibration and noise in a five-speed synchromesh gearbox for a manual transmission vehicle. A detailed roller bearing model is used to represent the bearing dynamics. The gearbox vibration is computed using a time-dependent analysis for a specified engine speed and external load.

The normal acceleration of the gearbox housing is transformed to the frequency domain and used as a noise source for an acoustic analysis. The resulting sound pressure levels are evaluated in the near, far, and exterior fields.
